Geghard- Armenia

Have you heard of Armenia?
It's located in the Caucasus region, between Europe and Asia, but I actually didn't know much about it.
When I stayed in neighboring Georgia, I heard that you could visit by car, so I was surprised! 😳
It's a country where you can enjoy both beautiful cityscapes and magnificent nature. ✨
Here are some reasons why Armenia has become one of my favorite countries, and some recommended spots. 🧚
Reason 1: The Stylish Cityscape
The capital, Yerevan, is quite prosperous and very stylish. ✨
There are many European-style buildings and restaurants with terrace seating, and many of the tables were decorated with flowers.
With so many stylish restaurants, it seems like you don't need to be in a famous European tourist destination!
I had breakfast on the terrace.
You can also find souvenirs at the market, which is within walking distance of the city center. ✨
I recommend something made with Armenia's famous silver.

Reason 2: The sheer scale of nature.
I was overwhelmed by the natural beauty of the lakeside churches, the strange rock formations, and the beautiful mountains I saw while driving. ✨
It's hard to do it justice in photos, but one place I definitely recommend is the "Symphony of Stones," a spot where you can see the strange rock formations.
📍Symphony of Stones
Address: 4P8R+8HM, Garni 2215, Armenia
The scenery, created by the strangely shaped basalt rocks formed over tens of thousands of years, was truly beautiful. ✨
With a river flowing nearby, you can enjoy the magnificent natural scenery.
It's a large, sloping park, but the roads are well-maintained, making it easy to walk. 👟
Reason 3: It's the first country in the world to adopt Christianity as a national border.
Armenia, which is said to have been the first country in the world to adopt Christianity as its state religion in 301, is home to historic churches and World Heritage Sites.
The stone churches have a different atmosphere from Christian churches you'll see in other countries, and I think they're worth seeing at least once.
In particular, the Geghard Monastery, a World Heritage Site carved out of rock, is understated yet majestic, with a warm atmosphere that makes you want to stay there for hours.
I hope you enjoyed this introduction to Armenia, a country still relatively unknown in Japan.
There are plenty of fun things to do, so be sure to check it out! ✨
There are tours available from the city center that take you to various destinations, so I recommend taking advantage of them.
Don't forget to negotiate! 🧚
