Whilst exploring Mexico City, we decided to visit the museo nacional de antropología or the National Anthropology museum for an insight into Mexico’s more ancient roots. A modern architectural masterpiece - I kept asking myself how that pillar kept that huge concrete slab standing above our heads - this museum is firmly dedicated to the vast and rich history of Mexico.
Some of the fascinating exhibits on display in this museum include the Aztec Sun Stone, possibly the most famous Aztec sculpture. There’s a ball game goal that was found at Chichen Itzá and some examples of Olmec colosal heads. Many of the artefacts give an insight into ancient life, such as these instruments that were made out of human bones! There’s so much to see at this museum, an afternoon just isn’t enough time!
