During my trip to Minami Boso, I wanted to experience a ryokan and Japanese atmosphere, so I stayed at Chikura Onsen Chikurakan.
The room was a standard Japanese-style room. It was retro because there was no key or card. The view from the window was natural and soothing.
There are two other types of rooms: one with an open-air bath and one like a detached building.
For the bath, we went to Chikura Onsen, a famous hot spring that is said to be the oldest hot spring in Chiba Prefecture.
There are also private open-air baths in the courtyard and on the rooftop, where you can choose the time of your stay depending on the order of check-in. It's nice that it's free.
There are yukata and hanten in the room, and a bag to put them in is also included, so you don't have to worry.
There is also a shop and a table tennis corner after the bath.
We had dinner around the hearth! Lots of seafood, meat, vegetables, etc. At the end, we were served grilled rice balls, which were very delicious! The portions were also voluminous and I was full to the brim. I was able to enjoy Japanese food and the Japanese atmosphere.
It is a four-story building with no elevator, so please be careful if you have trouble with your legs.
If you want to relax in a Japanese atmosphere, this is the place for you.
