Turtles, Hidden Shores, and Tropical Calm 🐢🌴☀️

Mirissa is the kind of place that sneaks up on you — quiet at first glance, but full of magic if you know where to look. With swaying palms, golden sands, and a laid-back beach town vibe, it was the perfect coastal escape during my Sri Lanka trip.

One of the most heartwarming experiences was visiting a local turtle hatchery nearby. It’s small, but run with genuine care — we learned about the conservation efforts to protect endangered sea turtles, saw hatchlings up close, and even released a few into the sea. Watching them flap their way toward the ocean as the sun dipped low was one of those rare, quiet moments you don’t forget.

Later, I made my way to Secret Beach, tucked away just a short tuk-tuk ride (and a bit of a walk) from town. It’s everything the name promises — secluded, peaceful, and framed by jungle. With fewer people, gentle waves, and a tiny beach bar playing reggae in the background, it felt like discovering a slice of untouched paradise.

Mirissa might be known for its surf and nightlife, but for me, it was about slow mornings, meaningful moments, and finding beauty just off the beaten path.
