Saraburi is a very close province to Bangkok, just a 2-hour drive away. Plus, the weather is amazing during the winter. Camping and eating grilled pork is the best way to spend a relaxing day. Today, we're sharing some quick tips on places to visit in the Muak Lek area for a relaxing and enjoyable trip.
Day 1: Baan Rai Por Piang Camping & Cafe / Chet Khot Waterfall
Today, we're heading to Baan Rai Por Piang, a place that offers accommodation, a tent site, and a cafe. We chose this place because it's so well-equipped and reasonably priced. For just 2 baht, you can sleep in a tent and enjoy grilled pork. If you're interested, I'll post a full review in the comments. Nearby, there's also a place to play in the water, Chet Khot Waterfall.
Day 2: Chet Sao Noi Waterfall / Chit Tang / Tong Ta Homestay
- Chet Sao Noi Waterfall is also not far from Muak Lek, about an hour's drive away. However, since we visited during New Year's, traffic was particularly bad, so it took almost 2 hours. Parking is 30 baht, and the entrance fee is 20 baht for Thais and 100 baht for foreigners. The waterfall is very easy to walk to, as it's flat and requires no climbing. And just walk in and you can play in the water. They also have kayaks.
- Jittang Restaurant and Cafe is a restaurant near Muak Lek that I stumbled upon by chance. This restaurant serves delicious, eco-friendly food, and supports local farmers. I highly recommend giving it a try. We have a full review here, which you can read in the post >
- Tongta Homestay. I booked this place because of the private bathtub, but forgot that we were traveling in the winter and could only soak our feet. The mountain views are so beautiful and photogenic. The price was only 2,500 baht. The room was very spacious, but it can be a bit noisy if the wind is strong at night.
Day 3: City Cafe
- Our plan was to go into the city to a cafe and enjoy some delicious food, but traffic was so bad that we had to drive back to Bangkok. That's okay, it's a relaxing trip. I'll post a list of cute cafes here.
If you're not too tired, I recommend Muak Lek Reservoir, which is about an hour's drive away. It's a great place to take photos, but it was closed for renovations when we went. Don't forget to check them out first!
Cafes worth visiting ✨
- Chuen Saraburi
- Ralph Cafe
- Saturday Saraburi
- The Treat Farm Hotel
- Rice Field Farmstay
- The Barnery
- Banburi Restaurant (opens in the evening, reservations required)
Have a fun trip and drive carefully!
