As the first stop of my trip to Oman, this Islamic sanctuary built of pure white sandstone instantly captured my heart. The title of the world's third largest mosque is well-deserved—the main hall features a 14-meter-long Swarovski crystal chandelier, and beneath it lies a Persian carpet woven by 600 women over four years, with every pattern telling a story of devotion and craftsmanship.
Photography tip: Arrive at 8:30 AM when soft light filters through the perforated dome, casting shadows that intertwine with the geometric patterns of the carpet. Wearing a plain-colored long robe and leaning against a pillar, you can easily capture sophisticated, high-end photos.
📌 Tips: Non-Muslim visitors should note the opening hours (Saturday to Thursday 8:30 AM–11:00 AM, closed on Fridays). Women must cover their heads and wear long clothing; traditional robes are available for rent at the entrance. If you visit during prayer time, standing quietly in the courtyard to listen to the recitation enhances the sacred atmosphere.
