Myeongdong Cathedral (officially Cathedral of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception) is one of Seoul’s most iconic landmarks and deeply significant sites. Architectural & Historical Landmark. Built in Neo‑Gothic style and completed in 1898, it was Korea’s first brick church, featuring a 45 m bell tower and soaring vaulted ceilings. Designated Historic Site No. 258 in 1977, it was once Seoul's largest building and took over a century to become embedded in Myeongdong’s urban fabric .
