Takeo Island: Shiga's little-known attraction

After a 30-minute cruise from Nagahama Port, we arrived at Chikubushima.

It is pronounced "Chikubu".

Chikubushima is known as a power spot, with Hogon-ji Temple, which houses one of the three great Benten deities in Japan, and Tsukubusuma Shrine (Takeshima Shrine).

It floats on Lake Biwa.

The boarding fee from Nagahama Port is a reasonable price of 3,200 yen for adults.

The main hall and Karamon gate of Tsukubusuma Shrine are national treasures, and the Kannon Hall and boat corridor are designated important cultural properties.

It takes about an hour to tour around the island.
