Since the Ming Dynasty, Taohuajian has been renowned for its vibrant peach blossoms every spring. Sheng Shitai, a renowned scholar from Moling during the Ming Dynasty, wrote in his "Records of Qixia Mountain": "In late spring and early summer, red blossoms and green shades dot the landscape, and visitors strolling beneath them find their clothes tinged with the seasonal colors." The emerald waters and crimson rain, nestled deep in the mountains, make for a truly captivating sightseeing experience. In the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, Li Xiangjun, a renowned courtesan from the Qinhuai region, also lived in seclusion here and was buried in the jungles along Taohuajian.
In order to commemorate Li Xiangjun, expand the scenic area and improve the microclimate of the mountains and forests, Qixia Mountain Scenic Area spent two years to build the Taohua Lake Scenic Area in the middle reaches of Taohuajian. It is across the road from Li Xiangjun's tomb and is surrounded by trestle bridges, ancient maples, peach forests, pavilions, lakes, Dielang Rock, Tiankai Rock, and imperial gardens. Visitors who come here will feel suddenly enlightened and moved, and at the same time they will spontaneously feel nostalgic for Li Xiangjun.
Boasting a subtropical monsoon climate, Taohua Lake is a scenic spot that Qixia Mountain has been diligently revitalizing over the past two years. Since the Ming Dynasty, the area's vibrant peach blossoms have been a hallmark of Qixia Mountain's beauty, and the site is also where Li Xiangjun, the renowned Qinhuai courtesan, is buried. The park has been extensively planted with peach trees, and pavilions have been constructed around the lake to recreate this former beauty.
