Yamdrok Lake, Tibet | You Must Visit Yamdrok Lake in Tibet in Your Lifetime

Yamdrok Lake in Tibet is the most breathtaking lake I have ever seen among so many lakes. It’s so beautiful that I don’t even know how to describe it. Promise me, you must visit Yamdrok Lake at least once! It’s truly stunning!

🚗 Transportation: From Lhasa to Yamdrok Lake is 100 km, about a 2.5-hour drive. There is no public transportation, so you must drive yourself or join a tour. 95% of the road conditions are very good, and even small cars can pass.

🔸 Viewing Platform: Recommended is Yamdrok Lake Viewing Platform No. 3 (Yamdrok Lake Parking Lot)
This is a must-visit viewing platform. It’s free, you can walk right to the edge of the lake, and you can also see seagulls on the lake surface.

🌟 Tips:
1️⃣ Be sure to go on a sunny day. The blue of Yamdrok Lake on a sunny day is beyond imagination. The scenery will be greatly diminished on cloudy days. Check the weather forecast before you go.

2️⃣ There are no toilets on the mountain at Yamdrok Lake. In winter, the restroom at the Lurida Viewing Platform will be closed. The nearest restroom is at the village committee on the way to Rituo Monastery. Among the viewing platforms 1-5, only No. 1 and No. 3 seem to have toilets.

3️⃣ Some sections of this trip are at high altitude. It is recommended to acclimate to altitude sickness first or travel with someone experienced, and be well prepared with oxygen and emergency medicine.

If you can only choose between Yamdrok Lake and Namtso Lake, you must choose Yamdrok Lake because it’s so beautiful you’ll want to visit again!
