Dejima had a foreign atmosphere that quietly lingered in the middle of the town. When you pass through the gate, you feel as if the scenery of the Edo period is rising up in a space, which gives you a slightly strange feeling. Walking through the restored buildings, you get a real sense that Dutch merchants lived here, traded, and connected Japan with the world, and there was a realism that you can't get from a history textbook.
