Nagaki City, Nagasaki Prefecture, spans the Nakajima River. The bridge is 22 meters long, 3.65 meters wide, and stands 5.46 meters above the water. Built in 1634 under the supervision of Kofuku-ji Temple's abbot, Mokushi Nyosho, it is Japan's first stone arch bridge and one of Japan's three most famous bridges.
Nagaki's Important Cultural Property, Spectacles Bridge was closed to vehicles in 1953. Pedestrians can now stroll freely across the bridge or take the stairs down to the river for a unique perspective. The Nakajima River is a great place for a stroll, with the willow trees and river creating a picturesque scene. The water is clear and teeming with fish, a delight to behold. The bridge also features numerous stone sculptures for photo opportunities.
