Yokiso is a historic building built on the hills of Kakuozan from the Taisho to early Showa eras by Jirozaemon Ito Sumitami, the first president of the long-established department store Matsuzakaya.
There are a north garden and a south garden, and the north garden is open to the public free of charge.
Kakuozan is an area of Nagoya City with many historic sites, so it's recommended to walk around.
If you walk straight north from Kakuozan Station, you will arrive at Nittai-ji Temple, which has deep ties to the Kingdom of Thailand.
Yokiso is located on the east side of Nittai-ji Temple, so it's a good idea to visit both temples at the same time.
The highlight of Yokiso is a building called Bangarou, which is a parody of a bungalow.
It is said that the tea room was moved from the Owari Tokugawa family home, and you'll be amazed at its scale!
You cannot enter the building, but the doors are open so that you can see the exhibits on the first floor from outside.
🕰️Business hours: 9:30~16:30
