The South Garden of Yokiso Choshokaku is only open to the public on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
There is also a rest area on the first floor. You can bring your own food and drinks, so take your time!
Yokiso is a representative example of a suburban villa built in Nagoya in the early Showa period. The owner of the villa was Jirozaemon Suetami Ito, the first president of Matsuzakaya. The building and garden were built on a 33,000 m2 area of hilly land on Kakuozan from the Taisho period to the early Showa period.
At the time, it was a place of international exchange not only for politicians, business people, and cultural figures, but also for international students.
Five of the buildings are designated as tangible cultural properties by the city as historical buildings that represent Nagoya City.
