Shurijo Castle, located in Naha City, Okinawa Prefecture, was the political and cultural center of the Ryukyu Kingdom (1429–1879). It combines Chinese, Japanese, and Ryukyuan architectural styles and is part of the UNESCO World Heritage site "Gusuku Sites and Related Properties of the Kingdom of Ryukyu." Unfortunately, the castle was destroyed by fire in 2019, and major structures like the main hall are currently being rebuilt. To visit, take the monorail from Naha city center to "Shuri Station" and walk for about 15–20 minutes. Summers can be quite sunny, so it's recommended to bring an umbrella and water.
🕰️ Operating Hours:
Shurijo Castle Park (Outer Grounds): 08:00–19:30 (Open year-round)
💰 Admission Fee:
Adults: ¥400
