Recommended must-see attractions in Okinawa: Daruma Peak Sairaiin Temple, Shuri Castle, and Okigu Shrine

Daruma Peak Seirai-in Temple is a surprising little surprise on the way to Shurijo Castle. Layers of red torii gates resemble a tranquil painting, and a small Daruma stands among them, seemingly gazing at every passerby with a smile. Travelers naturally raise their cameras to capture these silent blessings.

The grand questions of Shurijo Castle's construction methods, fires, and reconstruction seemed distant in the sweltering heat. I decided to take the air-conditioned train to Okigu Shrine, one of the Eight Shrines of the Ryukyu Islands. Its popularity is inversely proportional to the emotions I felt. Sometimes, what we need isn't to be moved by a sight, but to acknowledge that our own indifference is also a form of authentic experience.
