Prasat Nakhon Luang

It is an important monument of Ayutthaya.
King Prasat Thong ordered its construction in 2174 B.E., modeled after Prasat Muang Angkor in Cambodia. The Fine Arts Department announced its registration as an ancient monument in 2478 B.E. and surveyed, excavated, decorated, restored and improved the surrounding area from 2533 to 2537 B.E. to honor Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn on the occasion of Thai Heritage Conservation Day on April 2, 2537, and to preserve the national cultural heritage to be sustainable and evidence of the country's civilization. Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn graciously presided over the opening ceremony of Prasat Nakhon Luang on January 14, 2538 B.E.
