Ya Mo, the Thai Heroine of Korat
The Thao Suranaree Monument is located on Ratchadamnoen Road, Nai Mueang Subdistrict, Mueang Nakhon Ratchasima District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. It was built in 1934 to commemorate the great heroism of Thao Suranaree, or better known as Ya Mo, a Thai heroine who is highly praised for her good deeds and the first common heroine in the country to have such a monument.
However, one thing that is absolutely essential when visiting Korat is to pass through the Chumphon Gate behind the monument. It is believed that if you pass through this gate once, you will return to Korat soon. If you pass through it twice, you will come to work or live in Korat. If you pass through it three times, you will find a life partner who is from Korat. The Chumphon Gate is used to spy on enemies outside and has stairs leading up to the war tower. In the past, the city walls were built around Korat City, with parallel moats. They were fortifications to protect Korat City from enemies for a long time. If you visit Korat, don't forget to pass through the gate and pay homage. Thao Suranaree Monument, okay? 🥰 #Waiting for the day to depart #Travel to Korat
