Ryukyu Castle's Hikan Cherry Blossoms: The First Bloom of Japan's Sakura Season

The Ryukyu Hikan Cherry Blossoms 🌸 are a unique deep pink variety exclusive to Okinawa 🌸 and are among the first cherry blossoms to bloom in Japan (another early bloomer is the Kawazu Sakura). Their blooming season lasts from mid-January to early February.

Nakijin Castle Ruins, located in northern Okinawa, bloom later than the Naha city area, and visitors can still enjoy the blossoms in mid-February ☺️.

In addition to cherry blossom viewing, the ruins are also the largest castle ruins in Okinawa, built before the establishment of the Ryukyu Kingdom. Tickets can be purchased at the entrance, allowing visitors to freely explore the entire site.
