The Nakijin Castle Ruins, located in Nakijin Village in northern Okinawa, is the remains of the castle of the Hokuzan King of the Ryukyu Kingdom, built around the 13th century.
It is also registered as a World Heritage Site, and is characterized by its beautifully curvaceous stone walls and vast grounds. 🪨🌿
In spring, the cherry blossoms bloom in full bloom, making it a popular spot to enjoy early cherry blossom viewing in Okinawa. 🌸
When you actually visit, you can feel the weight of history in the quiet air, and just walking between the stone walls makes you feel like you've traveled back in time.
There is an entrance fee, but it is a worthwhile experience that combines scenery, history, and nature!
[Access]
About 1 hour and 40 minutes by car from Naha Airport. About 40 minutes from Kyoda IC on the Okinawa Expressway. 🚗
If you take the bus, get off at the "Nakijin Castle Ruins Entrance" stop and walk for about 10 minutes.
[Travel tips]
✔️There are fewer people in the morning, so it's easier to take photos
✔️Especially recommended during cherry blossom season (late January to early February)
✔️It's efficient to visit the nearby "Kouri Island" and "Churaumi Aquarium" together
