Shantou Family Favorite 3 Days 2 Nights Kid-Friendly Trip! Nature + Intangible Cultural Heritage + Amusement Park, Tested and Easy for Moms

A treasure trove of tips from a second visit to Shantou with kids, covering natural scenery, cultural experiences, and fun parks—making outings with children both easy and fulfilling!

Day 1: Head straight to Nan'ao Island. The beach at Qing'ao Bay is truly amazing, with sand as fine as flour, gentle shallow waters without waves, perfect for kids to play barefoot building sandcastles. Lifeguards are on duty the whole time, so it’s very safe. In the afternoon, check in at the Tropic of Cancer Plaza to see the "Gate of Nature," fly kites on the lawn, and tell astronomy stories. At sunset, rent a small boat to watch the sunset, feeling the sea breeze—super relaxing. The Peninsula Yijing Garden Villa where we stayed was a wonderful surprise, just a 10-minute walk to the beach, featuring a built-in ball pit and children's slide. The kids had a blast while parents relaxed in the outdoor pool. At night, use the free tide-pooling tools to dig for little crabs—such a rewarding experience. Dinner was at a nearby fishing port seafood stall; the seafood porridge was soft, fragrant, and delicious, and the kids drank two bowls in one go.

Day 2: Unlock cultural fun with the kids. First, visit the Xiaogongyuan Historical and Cultural District. The arcade’s gray plaster and stained glass windows fascinated the kids. The area has been child-friendly renovated, making stroller access easy. Next, visit the century-old General Post Office building, where kids wrote and stamped postcards to stick on the wish wall, leaving a special memory. In the afternoon, experience making red peach cakes at the Eleven Arts Village. Follow a local auntie to knead the dough and press molds; the finished cakes are sweet and soft, and the kids were very satisfied. You can also enjoy the graffiti art on the "Xia Shanhǔ" old house. Dinner was at Pengberton Western Restaurant in Dongxia 100; the tomato seafood spaghetti and Parmesan fries were the kids’ favorites. The kids’ meal even came with a toy, freeing parents’ hands.

Day 3: Spend the day at Fantawild Blue Water Star, fully family-friendly! The Children’s Kingdom has a double-decker carousel and a small roller coaster for kids over 1.1 meters, with kids screaming and laughing all the way. The interstellar flight and 4D cinema are both educational and entertaining, offering a taste of technology without being too intense. There are plenty of water stations in the park, so bring a water bottle to stay hydrated anytime. Remember to wear comfortable sneakers to avoid tired feet. Before heading back in the afternoon, stroll through Longyan Food Street and pack some Ruru glutinous rice balls and Shierzong red bean ice for a sweet ending.

💡 Family Tips: It’s recommended to drive on Nan'ao Island; you can stop anytime at scenic spots for photos. Book intangible cultural heritage experiences by phone in advance to avoid disappointment. For Fantawild, bring height proof to buy child tickets; night tickets offer better value.
