Jiangxi Provincial Museum is located at 698 Ganjiang North Avenue, Honggutan District, Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province. It is the largest comprehensive museum in the province, the first batch of national first-class museums, a provincial patriotic education base, and the first batch of key ancient book protection units in Jiangxi Province. The museum has a building area of 86,000 square meters and an exhibition area of 28,000 square meters.
The Jiangxi Provincial Museum was established in 1953, and has gone through the old Bayi Square Museum, the Xinzhou Road Museum, and the new museum on Ganjiang North Avenue.
The museum has established an exhibition system combining permanent exhibitions and temporary exhibitions. It consists of 8 permanent exhibitions and 3 temporary exhibition halls, which fully demonstrates the historical pattern and cultural characteristics of Jiangxi, and meets the diverse needs of the public in the new era with high quality. It brings together precious historical relics and ancient art treasures discovered in various parts of Jiangxi, and is the museum with the largest collection of cultural relics in the province, with a total collection of 60,437 pieces/sets.
On May 18, 2020, Jiangxi Provincial Museum was selected by the Chinese Museum Association as the "Most Innovative Museum in the Country in 2020".
On May 18, 2021, the basic displays of Jiangxi Provincial Museum, "Exhibition of Ancient History and Culture of Jiangxi" and "Exhibition of Revolutionary History of Jiangxi" were awarded the "18th (2020) National Museum Top Ten Exhibition Boutique Award" by the "Chinese Museum Association and China Cultural Relics News".
