Was it worth flying all the way to Nanchang just for these 18 photos?

You’ve got to visit Nanchang at least once—explore the Hero City, stroll through Bayi Square, feel the evening breeze along the Gan River, and experience the romance of Nanchang.

I flew to Nanchang specifically for these 18 photos, walking 20,000 steps daily to capture them. Here’s a breakdown of the shooting locations for each shot to share with you.

1️⃣ Xinzhu Cultural Square
Right outside the south gate of Tengwang Pavilion, using the pavilion’s frame for a perfect shot with the tower. Nighttime is even better than daytime.

2️⃣ Tengwang Pavilion North Garden
A winding ancient bridge connects to the garden pond, with wooden structures and blue tiles intertwined. Walking or sitting on the railing makes for great photos!

3️⃣ Times Square Apartment
The best spot to capture Tengwang Pavilion and Nanchang’s CBD in one frame—a classic shot. Arrive an hour before sunset.

4️⃣ Huayuan Emperor View Apartment
Frame Tengwang Pavilion with the riverside cityscape. Sitting by the window admiring the pavilion is pure bliss.

5️⃣ Wushang Mall Sky Garden
Escape the crowds and overlook the monument and Jiangxi Art Museum.

6️⃣ Wushang Mall Basement Level
Right at the UR store entrance, shoot the rose-themed typography.

7️⃣ Shengjin Pagoda (Navigate to Huitang Side Road)
Pinpoint location: Zhang Xiaolin Scrap Store. Capture the pagoda alongside old residential buildings.

8️⃣ Shengjin Pagoda Historical Block Sunken Stairs
From Exit 3 of Shengjin Pagoda subway station, walk forward to shoot the colorful acrylic wall with the pagoda.

9️⃣ Boyuan·Xianghu Mingju
The rooftop offers a stunning shot of Wanshou Pagoda and the twin towers—requires a 200mm+ telephoto lens and tripod.

🏠 Recommended Accommodation
I stayed at the Yicheng Hotel near Bayi Square, a mid-to-high-end chain under Dongcheng Group. Its prime location makes Bayi Square, Wanda Plaza, Wushang Mall, and Jiangxi Art Museum all within walking distance.

Just 300m from Yongshu Road Station (Line 2), it’s super convenient for visiting Tengwang Pavilion, Wanshou Palace, and Nanchang Star.

The hotel blends Eastern elements into its cozy, smart-room design, featuring intelligent toilets—a perfect mix of Chinese aesthetics and tech for a comfy stay.

The buffet breakfast offers a global spread, from Chinese dishes to Western pastries. With a gym and laundry room, it’s a dream for business travelers.
