The Wanghu Ecological Tourist Area is a key component of the Yaoli Scenic Area and a prime spot for its natural beauty. It encompasses primeval forests, the Nanshan Waterfall, the Huizhou Ancient Road, and the Hutougang area at the junction of Anhui and Jiangxi. It connects to the Wuhuashan Religious and Cultural Tourism Area above and the Meiling Leisure Resort below. Wanghu Village, at an altitude of over 1,300 meters, is the highest village in the Jingdezhen area and offers unique snowy scenery in winter.
Nanshan Waterfall, located at the foot of Gaoji Mountain in Wanghu Lake, is a cascading waterfall comprised of the main waterfall, Shihua Waterfall, Feilong Waterfall, and Piaojin Waterfall, each offering distinct scenic beauty. The waterfall complex stretches over 400 meters, with the main waterfall exceeding 70 meters wide and a drop of over 60 meters. It's a truly popular summer retreat.
The lush, tranquil primeval forest within the Wanghu Ecological Tourist Area boasts a diverse array of species, including over a hundred species of wild plants, earning it the nickname "Plant Kingdom." The area boasts 95 families, 256 genera, and 648 species of woody plants, including over 600 trees with a diameter at breast height (DBH) of 50 cm or more, averaging over 30 meters in height. The largest ancient tree boasts a DBH of 136 cm and a height of 45 cm.
The scenic area also features the "Fuyuan Bridge," built during the Ming Dynasty. It was once a necessary bridge on the ancient road from Huizhou (Anhui) to Raozhou (Jiangxi). The Huirao Ancient Road, a key transportation route from ancient Huizhou to Raozhou, runs from the opposite bank of the river in front of Meiling Village to Hutou Mountain, connecting Anhui and Jiangxi provinces. The 10-kilometer-long and three-foot-wide road, paved entirely with granite, offers a unique and picturesque experience.
The Wanghu Ecological Tourism Area has a subtropical monsoon humid climate. The forest coverage rate is extremely high, with mist all year round, colorful forests in autumn, wild flowers everywhere in spring, beautiful rime in winter, and bamboo shoots everywhere in summer. It is suitable for travel in all four seasons.
