Dragon Boat Festival · Wuxiang Water Town: An Unexpected Serenity

During the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, I chose to stay at the Floris Hotel in Lishui. Nestled deep within the Wuxiang Water Town scenic area, the hotel boasts an excellent location. However, upon arrival, I was met with an unexpected sight—the entire area was nearly deserted, with most shops shuttered. Whether it was the persistent drizzle that deterred visitors or some other reason, the near-empty silence left me momentarily at a loss. The rain-drenched cobblestone paths glistened coldly, and the absence of the usual bustle lent an air of detachment.

Yet, this quietness didn’t entirely overshadow the town’s charm. In the misty rain, the white walls, dark roofs, and winding streams took on the ethereal beauty of an ink-wash painting, evoking a sense of refined simplicity. Strolling through the empty streets, free from the usual crowds, offered a rare tranquility. Spending a night here, briefly escaping the world to savor this slightly solitary peace, still made for a unique and worthwhile getaway.
