The design language of XUAN Designer Hotel on Chongming Island is unforgettable, featuring alternating walls of reclaimed bricks from old Shanghai buildings and local rammed earth materials, striking a perfect balance between industrial rawness and rustic charm.

The rooms boast 270-degree wrap-around balconies, offering sunrise views over the Yangtze River in the morning and snow-like reed catkins at dusk. Walls are made of "breathable" diatom mud. All bedding uses organic cotton-linen blends, with pillows filled with Chongming's signature lavender and mint leaves. The minibar stocks local specialties like Chongming golden melon crisps and aged rice wine.
