Feidong, the eastern gateway to Hefei, the capital of Anhui Province, enjoys a prime location and convenient transportation. Nestled in the heart of central Anhui, Feidong County overlooks Nanjing to the east, borders Chaohu Lake to the south, connects Hefei to the west, and borders Bengbu to the north. Known as both the "Crossroads of Wu and Chu, and the hometown of Lord Bao," it is also known as "bordered by the Yangtze River and the sea, and a thoroughfare connecting seven provinces." It serves as a bridgehead for Anhui's eastward development and a vital gateway for the westward expansion of the Yangtze River Delta.

Feidong County boasts Chaohu Lake, one of China's five largest freshwater lakes; the "Four Peaks of Morning Glow," one of the Eight Scenic Spots of Ancient Luyang; Mount Dai, the Yangtze-Huaihe watershed; and Mount Fucha, the highest peak in central Anhui. Its summit, Qingruer Spring, was dubbed the "Seventh Spring in the World" by Ouyang Xiu. Other nationally protected cultural relics include the former site of the General Front Committee of the Crossing the Yangtze River Campaign, the Bao Clan Ancestral Hall, the stone carvings of Wu Fu's tomb, Longquan Jingshe, and the ancient dwellings of Liujiafan. Lu Opera and folk songs are widely performed throughout the county. Dragon boat racing in Changlinhe Town, stilt walking in Xishanyi Town, and the "foreign snake lantern" performances of Jieji Dashao are among the county's unique attractions.
