Shenming Bank ~ Seeking Wealth at Zinan Temple

Zhushan Zinan Temple, also known as Sheliao Zinan Temple, is a temple dedicated to the Earth God in Taiwan. It is located on Dagong Street in Sheliao Village, Zhushan Township, Nantou County. The temple is most famous for its practice of borrowing 'prosperity money' from the Earth God, earning it the nickname 'Shenming Bank'. The temple is always bustling with worshippers.

Many people come here to pray for wealth. The temple offers three auspicious items known as the 'Three Treasures of Good Fortune': prosperity money, money mother, and the golden rooster of good fortune. These items are believed to bring wealth in the new year.

It is said that borrowing money (money mother) from the Earth God for investment always results in profit, but the money must be returned the following year (no one would dare to owe the gods, right?). Over time, this practice has become a tradition, attracting more and more worshippers from various places to borrow prosperity money.
