On a rainy day with yellow ginkgo leaves 🍂, Nanxiong, this small city in northern Guangdong, looks like a fairy tale world! I recently checked in at Nanxiong Ginkgo, here’s a super detailed travel guide for you~
🍁 Best spots to enjoy ginkgo
① Maozifeng Forest Farm (Entrance fee 50 RMB)
- A must-visit on the Golden Avenue! The ginkgo trees on both sides are spectacular. The best viewing period is from late October to mid-November.
- Address: Maozifeng Town, Nanxiong City. Self-driving or chartered car recommended.
② Pingtian Ancient Ginkgo Group (Free)
- The ancient ginkgo trees in Aobei Village and Fengwu Village are over a hundred years old, combined with the ancient villages, it’s very charming.
- Address: Pingtian Town, Nanxiong City. About 1 hour drive from downtown.
📸 Photo Tips
- Remember to bring a transparent umbrella on rainy days for a more atmospheric shot.
- It’s recommended to wear light-colored clothes, which match perfectly with the golden ginkgo.
- Mornings have fewer people and softer light, making it easier to take great photos.
🍲 Local Food Recommendations
① Nanxiong Sour Bamboo Duck (A must-try!)
Recommended: "Old Brand Sour Bamboo Duck," sour and spicy, very appetizing.
Address: Fuxing Road, Xiongzhou Street, Nanxiong City.
② Stuffed Tofu
"Liu’s Farmhouse Cuisine" offers stuffed tofu that is crispy outside and tender inside.
Address: Entrance of Aobei Village, Pingtian Town.

Available at most local farmhouses, very warming in autumn and winter.
🚗 Transportation Guide
Take the high-speed rail to Shaoguan Station, then transfer to a bus to Nanxiong (about 1.5 hours).
Self-driving or chartered car is recommended as the attractions are far apart.
💡 Useful Tips
- Accommodation is tight during the Ginkgo Festival, remember to book in advance.
- There is a big temperature difference in the mountainous area, bring a thick jacket.
- You can buy some ginkgo nuts as souvenirs, but don’t buy them in the scenic spots as they are more expensive.
