Kofukuji Temple is a temple with an history of over 1,300 years. It is the temple of the Fujiwara family, a group of nobles who had power and influence over the Japanese imperial court during the Heian period.
It is also one of the places in Nara that has been recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage Site under the name of the Historic Monuments of Ancient Nara. It is located in Nara, Japan.
The highlight of this temple is the newly restored five-story Japanese-style pagoda. It is the second tallest five-story pagoda in Japan, after the five-story pagoda of Toji Temple. In Kyoto, only 7 meters, and this pagoda is also recognized as a national treasure of Japan.
Admission fee: The temple grounds are free, while the National Treasure Museum is 600 yen, and the Eastern Golden Hall is 300 yen (both tickets are sold together for 800 yen). The temple is open from 9:00 to 17:00.
📍How to get there: Kofukuji Temple is about 1.4 kilometers from JR Nara Station and about 600 meters from Kintetsu Nara Station.
