Visiting Tōdai-ji in Nara was a truly awe-inspiring experience. Originally built during the Tang Dynasty in the 8th century, Tōdai-ji was constructed to house the Great Buddha (Daibutsu) as a symbol of peace and unity in Japan. Although the current structure is a reconstruction from the Edo period, it remains the largest wooden building in the world and is an impressive testament to ancient craftsmanship. The colossal bronze Buddha statue inside, standing at 15 meters tall, left us in awe with its sheer scale and serene presence. Walking through this grand wooden temple, surrounded by its rich history and spiritual atmosphere, was an unforgettable highlight of Nara.
