From June 1 (Sunday) to July 14 (Monday), 2025, the "Mother and Baby Deer" being protected at the Rokuen Deer Sanctuary will be open to the public!
This is a rare opportunity to see the adorable baby deer born this year.
Every year around May, Nara Park enters the deer birthing season. During this time, mother deer exhibit strong maternal instincts and may attack humans to protect their babies. To prevent such incidents, the mother and baby deer are sheltered at the Rokuen Deer Sanctuary. During this period, these protected deer are made available for public viewing for a limited time.
I visited last year, and there were so many baby deer—it was incredibly cute. However, July can be very hot with intense sunlight, so please take precautions against heatstroke.
Admission is free, but donations for the baby deer are encouraged! ※ Suggested donation: 100 yen per person (voluntary).
※ Event will be canceled in case of severe weather.
