Osaka, Nara, and Uji Travel Review: The Perfect Combination of City and Serenity

This trip to Japan started in Osaka and included visits to Nara and Uji. Each of the three cities has its own unique charm, so there was never a dull moment.

In Osaka, I spent the whole day at Dotonbori. I took photos with the Glico sign, ate plenty of kushikatsu and takoyaki. I remember smiling without even realizing it because of the lively and cheerful atmosphere. I did my shopping around Shinsaibashi, and there were so many things to buy that I started worrying about the weight of my suitcase.

The next day was a day trip to Nara! Just a short walk from the station, deer greeted me. The deer, which looked gentle, suddenly charged when they saw the senbei (rice crackers), which startled me. Still, it was a cute and fascinating experience. The Great Buddha at Todai-ji was also magnificent and overwhelming.

The last stop was Uji. It’s a much quieter and calmer town compared to Kyoto. Since I went on a weekday afternoon, there were fewer tourists, making it perfect for a stroll. The time I spent leisurely walking while enjoying Uji tea ice cream and matcha desserts is my most memorable moment. Seeing Byodo-in in person was like looking at a painting, and it made me feel peaceful.

Each city had a different vibe, making every day of the trip feel fresh. Bustling Osaka, adorable Nara, and tranquil Uji. I highly recommend this combination!
