The Ultimate Summer Family Trip! Take Your Kids to Hulunbuir Grassland

This summer, you must take your kids to the vast grassland at least once! Blue skies, white clouds, green meadows, and flocks of sheep under windmills—it looks just like a scene from a Miyazaki anime. Kids can run freely on the grassland, pet adorable little lambs 🐑, feed 🫎 elk in the birch forest, enjoy delicious 🥙 Russian cuisine, and more. It’s truly worth bringing your children here for a holiday experience.

🗺️ Here’s our 7-day, 6-night itinerary from last year:
D1: Depart from your city - Arrive in Hailar, Hulunbuir
D2: Hailar - Private Pasture - Genhe
D3: Genhe - Aoluguya - Moerdaoga - White Deer Island

✨ Travel Tips:
1️⃣ The best time to visit Hulunbuir is from June to August. Flight and hotel prices surge, so book early!
2️⃣ Fly ✈️ to Hailar Airport—don’t mistakenly book flights to Hohhot Airport, which is miles away!
3️⃣ The temperature varies greatly between day and night. Even in summer, bring a 🧥 jacket. Girls, wear 👢 boots to avoid scratches from tall grass.
4️⃣ The UV rays are strong—always apply sunscreen and reapply during the day, or you’ll end up several shades darker like me 🤲🏿.
5️⃣ I went in early June, and the wind was so strong it nearly blew me away 😭. Bring a hat and mask.
6️⃣ Mosquitoes and midges are unavoidable—pack insect repellent. Allergy-prone folks, remember to bring 💊.
7️⃣ Grassland accommodations are basic—lower your expectations. Try staying in a traditional 🎪 yurt or wooden cabin for a unique experience.
8️⃣ Experience grassland activities like grass sliding, horseback riding, feeding lambs, and milking cows 🏂.
9️⃣ Taste local 🍖 specialties: Mongolian cuisine, Russian dishes, pot tea, iron pot stew, and various beef and lamb dishes.
🔟 If it’s your first time, avoid self-driving. 🚗 SUVs, no signal, and steep slopes make it unsuitable for beginners. Plus, many scenic spots aren’t on GPS. For family trips, consider a parent-child tour group—hotels and routes are all arranged, hassle-free!
