Aojiang Town, which belongs to Pingyang County, Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province, is one of the eight major water systems in Zhejiang. The name of Aojiang has changed several times. It was called Shiyang River in the Western Jin Dynasty, and then changed to Hengyang River, also known as Qiancang River. Because when the sea water is high tide, the waves at the river mouth are like a giant turtle carrying a mountain, so it is called Aojiang. It is mainly located in Pingyang County.
The Ao River flows through the entire scenic area of South Yandang Mountain. The Ao River originates from the source of Guiku, passes through Pingyang Wuyan Mountain, and forms a long canyon in southern Zhejiang. The Gechang Corridor Bridge, built in the Qing Dynasty, spans the canyon and is one of the most precipitous covered bridges in southern Zhejiang. When the water reaches Shunxi Ancient Town, the riverbed suddenly opens up, making it one of the main scenic spots of South Yandang Mountain.
Aojiang is located in the southeast coast of Zhejiang Province and belongs to the mid-subtropical marine monsoon climate zone. It has four distinct seasons with long summers and winters and short springs and autumns.
