Encountering cats at Houtong Cat Village

CNN once selected the top five cat-watching spots in the world, and one of them is Houtong in New Taipei City, Taiwan. There are over a hundred cats living in Houtong Cat Village, which is more than the local population. It is easy to find them on the trails. Because they have been in contact with tourists for many years, the cats are not afraid of strangers and some even take the initiative to act cute with people.

It takes less than an hour to reach Houtong Station by taking the Taiwan Railway's local train from Taipei. Houtong is located on the "Pingxi Branch Line", so you can visit the attractions of Shifen, Pingxi, and Jingtong stations at the same time.
