When thinking of Old Street in Taiwan, the first place that everyone thinks of is probably Tamsui Old Street, right? But this time, we will introduce another Old Street that is both interesting, charming, and worth visiting.
“Shenkeng Old Street”
How to get there:
If you want to take a single bus, you can take bus number 660, which can be boarded from MRT Beimen or MRT Ximen.
*But this bus line comes rarely, so leave plenty of time so you don’t have to wait for a long time.
Things to do:
Stinky Tofu, Stinky Tofu, Stinky Tofu, Stinky Tofu, Stinky Tofu, everyone! I’m not kidding. Because they are really famous for stinky tofu. When I got there, the smell of stinky tofu was everywhere (lol)
Let me make it more serious~ Actually, these are the interesting things:
1. Stinky tofu (that's it) and I recommend trying the shop with a lot of people queuing up. And ***Please eat it grilled or roasted. The smell is at the level that we can accept the most. If you want to try boiled, prepare some water to wash the stump. 🙀
2. There are old-fashioned tea shops that you can try for free all along the way.
3. There are more Taiwanese people than tourists, so you can really describe Taiwan.
4. You can go out and play on the bridge to see the view of the mountains, rivers, and the sunset.
5. I recommend trying the sausages. Normally, they sell them for 40 baht per stick or 3 sticks for 100 NTD.
Summary:
Shenkeng is another interesting place and still maintains the Taiwanese identity well. There are many delicious foods and the atmosphere is good. But the downside is that it is quite far from Taipei and there are not many buses. So, "you have to check the bus schedule carefully".
