Every time I visit Jiufen, I must have taro balls. I don't know when it became an unwritten rule, but everyone seems to agree that you have to eat taro balls when you come here. The taste is pretty much the same no matter which shop you go to; the only difference is whether there's a view to enjoy. It's been a long time since I last visited, and the parking fee has increased to 150 TWD. I remember there used to be a grilled eel skewer shop at the entrance, but it has been gone for a long time, leaving me with only taro balls to eat. Of course, there are other things for sale, but none of them appeal to me. I usually come here after a full meal, just to enjoy some snacks and desserts, stroll around, take in the scenery, and then head home!
