Jiufen Old Street: A Night Stroll Amidst the Ancient Charm and Red Lanterns

Located in Ruifang District, New Taipei City, Taiwan, Jiufen Old Street is a destination that combines history, culture, natural scenery, and delicious food. It is one of Taiwan's most popular tourist attractions. In the past, the discovery of gold deposits brought prosperity to the area, earning it the nickname 'Golden Mountain Town.'

However, with the decline of the mining industry, Jiufen fell into a period of quietness. It later regained attention due to the film 'A City of Sadness,' which was shot here. Its unique mountain and sea views, along with nostalgic architecture, once again attracted a large number of local and international visitors.

Jiufen is illuminated with red lanterns, which light up the entire mountain town, adding a festive and traditional charm to its ancient ambiance.

In addition to the classic Old Street and the famous A-Mei Tea House, Jiufen is known for its local delicacies such as taro balls and fish balls. Nearby attractions include the Jinguashi Gold Museum and the Golden Waterfall, offering both natural and historical experiences.

To get to Jiufen, take a train from Taipei to Ruifang, then transfer to a bus heading to Jiufen.
