A day trip to Shifen for its curtain-like waterfalls

#taipeiattractions

Shifen Waterfall, often dubbed the "Little Niagara of Taiwan," is a must-visit natural attraction to many.

Located in Pingxi District, New Taipei City, the waterfall stands 20 meters tall and 40 meters wide, being the broadest waterfall in Taiwan.

Though not particularly large in size, it is renowned for its cascading curtain-like appearance and the rainbows that often form in its mist, earning it the nickname "Rainbow Pond" .

The waterfall is accessible after 20–30 minute walk from Shifen Station, passing through Shifen Old Street, where visitors can experience the unique tradition of releasing sky lanterns along active railway tracks.
