Fort San Domingo, located in Tamsui, New Taipei City, is a historic site. The Dutch occupied Taiwan to expel the Spanish, and the Dutch were known as "Red Hairs," hence the name "Fort San Domingo" that remains to this day. Later, the British leased the site and established the British Consulate on the east side, which served as an official residence. The Fort San Domingo area is small and can be explored in about 1-2 hours. It's recommended to start by taking a leisurely stroll from Tamsui Station. The British Consulate inside is quite unique, with many historical features, including beds, toilets, and more. It's highly recommended for history enthusiasts.
Fort San Domingo's commanding views of the Tamsui River and the city are truly stunning. 👍
