Shifen Old Street in Pingxi Di

Shifen Old Street in Pingxi District, New Taipei, has always been a top popular choice in the suburbs of Taiwan. Whether it's a hipster photo or a relaxing half-day trip with friends! There is not only a super cute train passing through the streets, but also a variety of ancient snacks, sky lantern experience, full atmosphere - the point is to take the train to more travel flavor, every moment is very chill!

Attraction inventory recommendations:
It is recommended to take the Taiwan Railway Branch directly to Shifen Railway Station. The station is Lao Street. Trains run every hour. Remember to pay attention to the timetable, don't miss the return trip! There are nostalgic train tracks along the way, and from time to time you will see trains "crossing" the old street, the picture is surreal. Many hipster shops on the street sell handicrafts and souvenirs, as well as specialty snacks must-try: black-haired pork sausage, plump and juicy, super Taiwanese flavor.

The most unmissable is of course the sky lantern. You can write your own wishes on each sky lantern, and then put it in the sky by the rails. It's super fun to put a group of friends together! Recommended to choose four-color sky lanterns, representing different wishes (health, career, love, peace), very suitable for photography ~

If you have plenty of time, it is recommended to take a slow walk to Shifen Waterfall. The directions are clear along the way and the distance is not far, about 20 minutes by foot. The waterfall is a famous natural attraction in New Taipei with spectacular views.

Food Recommendations:
There are not many choices of restaurants in the old street, but the black-haired pork sausage is a must-try! There are also charcoal-grilled corn, tofu, and grass dumplings on the street. They are soothing and characteristic, each full of local flavor.

Itinerary Tips:
1. Take the Taiwan Railway to Shifen, note that there is only one train in an hour, it is recommended to check Trip.com in advance to arrange the return time, otherwise the waiting time in the old street will be long ~
2. There are many sky lantern shops, some will assist with photography for free, remember to ask for prices and services (approximately NT$150-200 per sky lantern).
3. Old Street is open year-round but crowded, early weekdays or weekends before noon, relaxed and not crowded.

Extended Strategy:
You can also visit Pingxi or Jingtong Station by train, both of which have their own unique hipster shops. Hiking enthusiasts can visit the neighboring suburbs from Shifen along the road and feel the natural beauty of New Taipei.
