[Taiwan] A must-see for cat lovers: Houtong, a place you can visit on your way to Jiufen and Shifen

This cat spot has also been selected as one of the "6 Best Cat Spots in the World" by CNN.

When you leave the station, you'll see cats everywhere!

Although it's a small village, it's now a tourist spot, and there are restaurants that make use of old houses.

It's located on the way to Jiufen, so it's recommended to stop by Houtong → Shifen → Jiufen!

This area flourished as a mining town during the Japanese colonial period, but with the decline of the mining industry, the population moved to urban areas and the town became depopulated.

Before 2009, there were less than 10 tourists.

How to get there: From Taipei Station, take the train for about an hour.
At Ruifang Station, change to the local Pingxi Line and get off at Houtong Station.
