A floating park designed with a tulip stem-shaped base structure. Originally known as Pier 54, it was once nicknamed the "Unlucky Pier" due to its historical ties to the White Star Line, the company behind the famous Titanic. Pier 54 also served as the docking point for the RMS Lusitania before its tragic sinking during World War I. After being severely damaged by Hurricane Sandy in 2012, the pier was revitalized and renamed Pier 55.
We fell in love with New York City from the very first half-day of our visit. The city is filled with storytelling at every corner, and amidst the bustling metropolis, it’s heartening to see how NYC prioritizes nature, the environment, and the integration of art into urban development through public spaces. This contrasts sharply with our country, where scenic public areas—whether by the water, the sea, or atop mountains—are often privatized, requiring payment for access. In developed countries, such spaces are open to the public.
