Ponagar Temple

#vietnamtrip Interesting place with lots of history, nicely preserved. 30k entry per person. I arrived at 1745 just before closing, so not many tourists, but still enough to spoil sunset photos!!
Gowns available to go inside if you wanted. Plenty of tourist shops, paintings and sculptures to explore. This is a wonderful temple with several buildings of historical significance. Please be aware there are three main levels and it’s a series of uneven steps going up to the main temple.

That being said, to be inside a temple that was originally (parts have been re built) built in the 8th century just blows my mind.

I wore a tee shirt and mid calf pants but my husband had shorts slightly longer than the knees but he was singled out to wear one of their ‘free’ gowns, which he did not mind. The alter is beautiful and I was taken back by its simplicity yet beauty. Because many people were there in line to say a prayer or pay their respects most people only stayed at the alter for about 30 seconds, one at a time so I recommend giving some thought to your prayer in advance.

The grounds and there is a room that has historical pictures from the past and also an explanation.

It’s very different to other temples we have been in and I strongly recommend a visit.
