Okukinu Onsen Kaniyu is one of the most impressive hot springs on this trip to Japan. The entire inn has five hot spring sources, mainly milky blue sulfur springs, as well as bicarbonate springs, all 100% natural. The large outdoor bath is adjusted with water, while the small pools require you to turn on the tap to add cold water.
Since you can only enter by the inn's car, there are very few guests, making it a true secret hot spring. I hardly met any other guests while soaking in the hot spring, enjoying the large outdoor hot spring all to myself. It's much more reliable than some popular secret hot springs with buses bringing people to the entrance.
There is a female-only outdoor bath, which is a blessing for female guests. This should be the best hot spring in the inn. There are two types of spring water, one is milky blue sulfur spring, and the other is light white, which should be from different spring sources.
The most famous mixed bath has different entrances for men and women, with a stone in the middle as a boundary. Once you enter the milky white water, you can hardly see anything, making it easy for mixed bathing.
The entire hot spring has a transparent spring without sulfur, which is the only one among the five spring sources in the inn without sulfur. The spring water is smooth and easy to soak in.
Separate spring pools for the five spring sources. No cold water added for temperature adjustment!! Remember to turn on the tap to add cold water, or you'll get burned.
There is a drinking spring where you can taste the sulfur spring water. It's said to be good for your health, but I really can't drink much.
There is also an indoor bath where you can wash your hair. 14 is a family bath, and you can get the key from the front desk. Remember!! Turn on the cold water tap to adjust the temperature, or you'll get burned.
