This ancient shrine is the birthplace of Mount Nikko worship, and is popular for its blessings of matchmaking.

The annual "Nikko Wind Chime Festival" began on July 7th.

The wind chimes on display are made of two types: ceramic and porcelain. They have different tones. They're called "prayer wind chimes" and are attached with strips of paper on which you write your wishes! There were all kinds of wishes written on them.

They were all ingeniously designed, including wind chimes with musical scales that could be played to create a melody.
