[Teaching Miyakojima residents! Hidden gem restaurants they don't really want to tell you about]

Here are three restaurants with few tourists, recommended by someone who moved to Miyakojima.
So far, I've never had to wait in line, so you'll likely be able to get in even without a reservation. ✨

1. A steak restaurant serving Miyako beef hamburgers
📍Restaurant Janjan
Address: 698-3 Nishizato, Hirara, Miyakojima City, Okinawa Prefecture 906-0012
💰: Around 2,000 yen

This restaurant has a local diner vibe, but the menu is full of meat. 🍖
You can also enjoy steaks and Miyako beef hamburgers.
Each hotplate comes with a buffet of drinks, buttered toast, salad, rice, and soup!
It's easy to overeat, but make sure to leave enough space for the meat. 🤤

The original sauce and truffle sauce served on the table are both delicious, so be sure to try them! ✨

2. A restaurant serving fish and shellfish caught in Miyakojima
📍Seafood
Address: 207-3 Shimosato, Hirara, Miyakojima City, Okinawa Prefecture 906-0013
💰: Up to ¥5,000 (Dinner)

While the prices are a little on the higher side, this restaurant serves set meals featuring shellfish and fish caught in Miyakojima.
We especially recommend the oven-baked spiny lobster!
The fluffy meat and delicious miso are a must-try! ✨

Also, they offer daily-only sashimi, featuring shellfish caught that day, so be sure to try that too! 🤤

3. Yakiniku Restaurant Lunchtime Chilled Noodles
📍San Irabujima Branch
Address: 1643-1 Irabu Nagahama, Miyakojima City, Okinawa Prefecture 906-0506, Inside Feliz Villa Suite Bay
💰: Up to ¥2,000 (Lunch)

They also offer Miyako soba and other dishes, but I recommend the "TKS" mixed soba.
The chewy fresh noodles and the sauce blend perfectly, making it a meal you'll finish in no time. 🤤
Another great feature is the included condiments for changing the flavor, and rice to mix with the sauce at the end.
The meat is also incredibly tender, melting in your mouth.

All of the restaurants featured here are absolutely delicious, so if you're not sure what to eat, be sure to give them a try!
It may not be classic Okinawan cuisine, but you can enjoy ingredients unique to Miyakojima. 🧚
