Ningbo's stunning art museum is actually a masterpiece by a Japanese master!||《Art》| Ningbo Hanling Art Museum
The wind is too strong, I can barely hold
This half-page poem paper
Many roads shining with golden light
In the gravel, the sun is shining brightly
They all left
After the wind passed, I could see clearly
There are still some people with me
They are playing with building blocks, paper, pens, and strings
Under the pale hair and beard, the faces of children
Are glowing
Some people in front got tired and turned back
Holding the carefully nurtured children
With beautiful banknotes in their hands
Exchanged for a
Ticket
~Ningbo Hanling Art Museum~
Hanling Art Museum is located on a peninsula-like land protruding from the side of Dongqian Lake in Ningbo. From a distance, it looks like a layered "small mountain". Together with the surrounding mountains of Dongqian Lake, it blends into the surrounding landscape.
The art museum also looks like "tiles", yes, the tiles of the ancient Jiangnan village Hanling, which has a history of more than a thousand years. Tiles are highly representative objects in Eastern culture, with a beauty that is both fragile and resilient. This beauty flows through this building, blending seamlessly with the village and buildings of Hanling Old Street.
The designer of this building, which is full of Eastern aesthetics, is not Chinese, but the famous Japanese architect Kengo Kuma. As one of the representatives of the fourth generation of Japanese architects, Kengo Kuma's classic theory is to create "negative architecture". He said: "Architecture is really not that important, it would be best if it could disappear."
His understanding of Asian aesthetics is also based on this concept. "A fundamental aspect of Asian aesthetics is the recognition that what a person can do is inherently limited, and that people themselves are very fragile," Kengo Kuma believes that "nature is far more powerful than architecture itself." Hanling Art Museum is a presentation of this aesthetic, blending with the surrounding nature and history. People marvel at its beauty without feeling its abruptness.
Kengo Kuma aspired to become an architect since childhood. Now at the age of 70, his architectural works are everywhere, and his written works are equally numerous. Since the age of 35, Kengo Kuma has published almost one book every year. From his first book "Ten Houses" in 1989 to the famous "Negative Architecture" in 2004, Kengo Kuma's architectural theory has matured and continues to this day.
