During our trip to Ninh Binh, one of the absolute highlights was visiting Tràng An and honestly, it completely blew me away. This place is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the mix of emerald rivers, dramatic limestone cliffs, hidden caves, and ancient temples makes it feel almost unreal. No wonder it’s often called “Halong Bay on land”! 🏞️🚤
💸 Entrance Fee
Tickets cost 250,000 VND (around €10 / $11) and include a boat ride of about 2.5–3 hours. The boats are rowed by locals which adds so much charm to the experience.
🛶 Choosing the Route
There are 3 possible routes:
1️⃣ Route 1 – Caves & Temples: goes through 9 caves and several ancient temples. Perfect if you’re into history and culture.
2️⃣ Route 2 – Cinematic Landscapes: 4 caves + 3 temples
👉 This is the one I recommend! When we went, the water level was super high, so we couldn’t access the caves, but honestly, it didn’t matter. The absolute highlight was the stunning temple in the middle of the water 🛕💦 – it really felt like a crown jewel, so peaceful and magical.
3️⃣ Route 3 – Nature & Serenity: fewer temples, more untouched landscapes, and a quieter atmosphere.
⏱ Duration
All routes take around 2.5 to 3 hours. 🌄
✨ Tips for Travelers
• ⏰ Go early (from 7:00 AM) to avoid both the crowds and the midday heat.
• 🧢 Bring a hat, sunscreen, and plenty of water.
• 📸 Don’t hesitate to ask your rower to stop for photos.
Visiting Tràng An was honestly one of the most memorable moments of our Vietnam trip. Between the calm river, the lush mountains, and that temple floating on the water… it felt like stepping straight into a fairytale. 🌍💚
